Module 1: Finding Safety in the Soma

Of all the roles your Autonomic Nervous System has,  the #1 goal is protection, keeping you SAFE.

However, if you've experienced significant stress or trauma, it's likely that your system is no longer able to  accurately detect cues of danger and safety, so even the most minimal of challenges can feel like a threat to your survival. Your body cannot heal if all of its attention is focused on surviving.

This is why it's crucial to prioritize restoring a felt-sense of safety, which goes beyond simply telling yourself that you're safe. When you feel safe, your nervous system can shift its focus, start to relax, and the healing process can begin.

→ In this module, we focus on building a felt-sense of safety with some sensory modulation practices as well as some top-down/mindset techniques, so that your nervous system can come out of survival mode and begin to thrive.

Educating yourself about your body is a powerful regulation tool that can diminish symptoms. In this module, you will get deeper into the mechanisms of the nervous system, how it relates to chronic conditions and, most importantly, what you can do about it, as you continue to practice the sensory modulation exercises that you learned from module 1.

What does food have to do with energy?
When we eat, our digestive system breaks down food into its basic components of carb, protein, and fats 

Components are converted into a biological source of energy call Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)

ATP powers biological processes like muscle contraction, nerve signaling, and cellular repair
